Vibration Study No. 1 | Mixed Media on Canvas | 24"
Created live at Heidi Gallery, Vibration Study No. 1 captures Helena Chywski’s synesthetic response to the haunting sound of the theremin, played by Jen Rondeau, alongside Katmosphere’s hypnotic rhythms. Layers of soft gray, orange, and hidden blue patterns reflect shifting tones and textures, translating vibration into color and form. The result is a visual map of sound—an otherworldly study in movement, resonance, and energy.

New York Pigeon | Ink on Paper | 18x24
In this piece, Helena translates the sound of a New York pigeon into visual form. Inspired by a follower’s suggestion for her Sounds of Nature series, the work captures the city’s rhythm and chaos through layered ink patterns that feel raw, fluid, and alive. Having grown up in New York, Helena sees it as a small tribute to home — a visual echo of the city’s unmistakable energy.

Katydid | Ink on Paper| 12x17 in
Helena Chywski translates the nostalgic summer sound of katydids into visual form. The work evokes warm nights from her childhood in Brazil, where the air was filled with the hum of crickets and tiny island creatures. The patterns flow in squiggly, organic lines with black spots and golden tones, creating an earthy, tribal energy that feels alive and connected to the ground itself. Part of her ongoing Sounds of Nature series, this piece explores the relationship between sound and sight through Helena’s synesthetic perception. Visual Sound: Katydid was exhibited in London on October 18 for In My Mind’s Eye—a workshop and documentary exploring perception, identity, and sensory diversity, including synesthesia.
